The best way to slow down the spreading of the new coronavirus is staying at home, for everyone who can do that. The Municipality of Pécs however, is committed to give help for all those parents who have nursery and kindergarten aged children, and can not provide children care. It is still very important, that the caring of the children should not be left to the grandparents.
For this purpose, on the 14th of March, among others, as the Mayor of Pécs, I decided, that all the nurserys and kindergartens maintained by the Municipality of Pécs, will be functioning in duty system and will provide alimentation for those children who need it. This measure will come into force from 17th of March.
In the meantime, on Monday, the Hungarian Government has published a Government Regulation, therefore as the Mayor of Pécs, I extend this mentioned measure to all non-municipality maintained (church, university, or private) nurserys and kindergartens in Pécs, from Tuesday, the 17th of March.
Practicly this means, that we provide protection, day caring, and food supply, for all the children whom parents are asking for it, during the time of the health emergency, regarding the new coronavirus.
The primary goal is to take care of your children in your home, if it is possible, and do not left it to the endangared-aged grandparents. I am asking the dear parents, to take this into account.
Attila Péterffy
Mayor, Municipality of Pécs
